Are you taking a picture of a gun pointing at your nuts?

Sweet. I got myself a single-shot break action Iver about a month ago, a 12GA. Made in the 20s or 30s, probably - doesn’t even have a proper serial number, just a lot number.

Very nice, very clean looking! Is that receiver color case hardened?
Also, .410s are so much fun, and a real challenge for things like trap and sporting clays. After many years of shooting big guns, I’ve recently begun to discover the joy of shooting .22s, .410s, etc.

Haven’t you heard of that new fad “50 Shades of Russian Roulette”?

Now I’m going to have to look at the mid-century 20ga Savage single I have in my closet at home.
Curious about the serial number now.

For all my homies that didn’t make it

Congrats on the new long gun heirloom! It’s not worth much monetarily speaking, but still a fine gun to keep and one day pass onto your kids/grandkids.
One of the most valued guns in my colection is a single shot h&r that was given to my grandfather by his grandfather. It’s not worth anything, but that doesn’t matter to me

I'm looking for a K98 pattern Mauser right now.

Congrats! Be sure you take good care of it, and avoid getting it into situations where the stock could be broken by a fall — stocks for these old break-action shotguns from the 50s and 60s are very hard to find and replace cheaply. We had several sitting in the shop for years waiting on Numrich to source spares. Enjoy it, they’re neat old guns!

yea sometime I there I thing the feds started making them have a serial #. mine just has a model number

yea I plan on shooting it every once in a while. More of just the memory of me and my gramps shooting in when I was younger

yea I wanted this one as opposed to the other .22's he had because I remember shooting this one with him
![]() 09/07/2016 at 00:13 |

honestly im not sure... I probably wont shoot it too often. more wanted it for the memories than anything

Completely understandable. I have an old Sears .22 that was my dads that I’m trying to get fixed up so I can shoot it. I wouldn’t shoot it often, but I’d like to be able to now and then.
As for the case hardening, it should have colored swirls in the metal. It’s hard to tell from the picture if it is, or just dirt/grime. I love color case hardening, when it’s polished up it looks beautiful:

oh no its not hardened just kinda dirty from sitting around
![]() 09/07/2016 at 12:59 |

Haha, okay. I collect old military guns and I do the same thing with them sometimes, I see it and think “Ooo, that’s a really interesting pattern in the metal” and then when I clean it I discover it was just dirt or cosmoline or something.

yea and then its not as fun haha. Yea i only dabble in guns. just here and there enough to know my way around them

I’m probably more into guns than I am into cars at this point in my life, mostly because I live in apartment and have nowhere to wrench at the moment. I also got bit by the competitive shooting bug and do it whenever I can, in fact I have a club match coming up Saturday.
![]() 09/07/2016 at 13:33 |

yea competitive is a whole different level
![]() 09/07/2016 at 14:23 |

I should clarify that I’m not particularly good, I just enjoy doing it. I just shoot in local competitions at the club level and stuff like that.
